Brock Lesnar to Pay $500 as Fine for Brutal End to SummerSlam Match

Brock Lesnar beat Randy Orton in the main event of SummerSlam Sunday night with a ultra-rare TKO finish, splitting open Orton’s head with a series of elbow shots that continued even after referees stepped in to check on Orton’s condition.

The vast majority of online media believes that Lesnar’s attack on Orton was a deliberate attack, meaning that WWE planned to end the match that way – but numerous reports after SummerSlam stated that WWE veteran Chris Jericho confronted Lesnar immediately after the match. WWE.com reported that Orton needed 10 staples to close the gash.

Shane McMahon rushed to the ring to try and stop Lesnar and protect his SmackDown star, but Lesnar responded by hitting McMahon with an F5. The following night on Raw, Stephanie McMahon promised that Lesnar would face repercussions, and that he “absolutely crossed the line.”

On Tuesday, WWE announced that Lesnar has been fined $500.

Considering Lesnar is the second highest-paid wrestler on the roster as a part-timer according to Forbes, he probably won’t lose too much sleep over the punishment.
