As mentioned before, you do not need a 100 yard pitch to play street soccer. Street soccer can be played almost anywhere. Maybe you have a basketball court or tennis court near your house or you might have an empty parking lot. If you don’t have any of these places near your house, you can play in your street. These areas serve as the ideal location for street football.

     Tips:

  1. For goals, you can use parking cones or poles, anything to mark the goals so you can see them during the match.
  2. Street football doesn’t require goal lines or D lines, but if you like, you can use chalk or spray cans to draw these marks for better understanding.
  3. Make sure the area has some kind of boundary, whether it’s a fence or a footpath. If there isn’t one, you can always mark it using chalks and spray cans.

Street Football doesn’t require designed jerseys, Football cleats, shins and all that stuff. You can play street soccer without any of these things. All you need are your feet and a football. You can play street football with any kind of shoes like with tennis shoes or your sneakers. In some parts of the world, people even play naked foot! There isn’t a special jersey or gear for the goal keeper; you can even play without a goal keeper if you don’t have enough players!

You don’t have to read the whole FIFA standard Laws of the Game to play street football. The rules are going to be decided by both teams. The most common are that there is no offside in street football and the ball should stay below head height. Others are that there is no slide tackling and hard tackles cannot be attempted in street football as you are not wearing any shin guards and could injure yourself and others too. There is also no outside as there is a boundary and the ball cannot go outside the area. The game does not start with kick off’s, the two teams toss and the winner starts the game from the goal line. The penalty can only be called out if the opponent attempts a very aggressive tackle, so there is a very less chance of a penalty being called out.

  3. Learn to control the ball with the sole of your foot. It is an important skill as with your sole, you can stop the ball and move it into any direction quickly. To practice this, pass the football against the wall and receive it with the sole of your foot.
  4. You must always stay away from the defender. You should keep moving fast to avoid the defenders so that you are always available to receive a pass.
  5. Practice all areas. You must practice all of your skills like dribbling, passing, receiving and shooting skills in order to reach perfection in your game.
  6. Always be confident with the ball. If you hesitate in controlling it, you might perform even worse and give up good chances of scoring.
